Southern Belle Construction, LLC is a woman-owned, licensed and insured general contractor founded in January 2021 by Mary Wood and co-owned with William Wood. We build custom homes, remodels and outdoor living across Nashville and Middle Tennessee from our office in White House.
Mary Wood has called Nashville home her whole life. She started Southern Belle Construction because too many homeowners she knew had the same story: a contractor who quoted, disappeared, resurfaced, and left them wondering what was happening with their own house. The company was founded on the opposite idea — that a builder’s first job is to communicate — and everything about how it runs follows from that.
What we build
Custom homes on your land or ours, whole-home renovations, kitchens and bathrooms, additions and second stories, and the outdoor rooms Middle Tennessee is made for: screened porches, covered patios, decks, outdoor kitchens, fireplaces and hardscapes. We hold a Tennessee contractor’s license for residential and commercial work, so duplexes, small multi-family buildings and commercial build-outs are ours too.
How we work
Every project gets a site visit, a written and itemized estimate and a project manager who is your single point of contact. Permits are pulled in our name and inspections are scheduled around the crew, not the other way around. The site is cleaned every evening. Changes are priced before they happen. When something turns up behind the drywall — and in older Nashville houses it does — you hear about it the same day, with options.

We are a Christian, family-based company with an office on North Sage Road in White House, twenty-five minutes north of downtown Nashville. Most of our crews live in Sumner and Robertson counties; most of our clients are within a fifty-mile drive. We would rather be the builder your neighbor recommends than the biggest name in the market.

A native Nashvillian, Mary founded Southern Belle Construction in 2021 on a simple belief: homeowners deserve a contractor they can trust. She leads the company, sets its standards and still answers her own phone.
William co-owns the company with Mary and carries the field side of the business — crews, sequencing, materials and the hundred decisions a job site asks for every week.
Collin is usually the first person you meet. He walks the property, listens, measures and turns the conversation into a scope and an estimate you can actually read.

Six steps from hello to keys
A conversation
Call, or send the form. Collin or Mary will ask what you want the house to do, what is bothering you about it now, and what timing and budget look like.
A site visit
We walk the property, measure, photograph and look at what is behind the walls where we can. No pressure and no sales script — just the questions a builder has to ask.
Design and a written estimate
Drawings where the project needs them, selections you can hold in your hand, and a written estimate broken into the pieces that drive it. You will know what you are paying for.
Permits and scheduling
We pull the permits, order the long-lead materials and put the job on a calendar you can see. Doug becomes your single point of contact from here on.
The build
Crews show up when we say they will, the site is cleaned each evening, and you get updates without asking. Surprises behind the drywall are handled in the open, with options and prices.
The walk-through
We go through the finished work together with a punch list, fix what needs fixing and hand over the warranty paperwork. Then we ask you to tell Google how it went.

How long does a remodel take?
A bathroom takes three to five weeks, a kitchen six to ten, a screened porch three to six, an addition two to six months and a custom home eight to fourteen months of construction. Design, selections and permits add a few weeks to a few months before that, and we give you a written schedule before work starts.
Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes. We prepare the drawings, pull the building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical permits in our name, schedule every inspection and hand you the closed-out paperwork at the end. Unpermitted work is not something we do.
How do payments work?
Every project runs on a written contract with a deposit and progress payments tied to milestones you can see. Clients who finance typically use a HELOC, a renovation loan or a construction loan through their bank, and we supply the documentation lenders ask for.
